Earlier this month, I shared my love of paper crafting and mentioned that I use that crafting it in my spiritual practice, as well.
Today, I want to share a project that’s a blend of a junk journal and a piece / part of a grimoire. This particular creation focuses on the magical properties of the days of the week, and it's made entirely out of recycled envelopes.
I’ve found that combining my passion for paper crafting with my spiritual journey allows me to capture and celebrate the magic in everyday life. This enchanted junk journal has become a cherished part of my collection, and I’m excited to share it with you.
The Creation Process
To begin, I gathered eight envelopes of the same size. I glued them together, using the flap to hold them together into a book-like structure. I used old ink pads to “ink” up the edges of each fold to give it a sort of aged / antique-y look. Then, I created a template for the cover of each pocket and a template for the insert that would fit in it.
I then researched the magical properties of each day and typed them up. I divided them into days and sized each day to fit the template. I printed each day out on red cardstock, cut it to size, and inked the edges. Here’s a PDF of the information I gathered and printed (though it is sized to my template).
Then, I decorated, and that’s the fun part. I used stickers, tabs, bits of lace and rope, scraps of witchy-looking papers, and a label maker.
On the back of each page’s insert, I added a combination of “decorations” and note-taking space so that I could add insights about each day that are more personal as time goes on.
Here’s a collage of the insides.

The Meditative Crafting Experience
Creating this enchanted junk journal was a meditative process for me. The act of cutting, gluing, and arranging each page allowed me to be fully present, quieting my mind and channeling my creative energy into something tangible and meaningful.
Paper crafting is more than just a hobby; it's a form of mindfulness that helps me connect with my inner crone, celebrating wisdom, creativity, and the magic of everyday moments.
If you want to try this, let your intuition guide you, experiment with different techniques, and most importantly, have fun! The creative process itself is the best part.
May your days be magical, and your crafts be full of enchantment.
